I'm sick of scads of nasty toothpicks all over my counter when I'm tinting icings; the squeeze-bottle concept is one that is long overdue and exceptionally welcome. The colors are vibrant, do not have an offensive taste, and blend, in my opinion, more smoothly than the Wilton pastes. You'll need to experiment a bit to get hues right at first, but it's well worth it.

I've used liquid and paste color in the past and this product seems to be somewhere in between. I had to use quite a bit of the substance to achieve the color I was looking for. In paste colors, you get a dramatic result with just a drop. The Ateco are quite a bit better than the liquid color, and, for the price, it's probably about right.

The bottom line - You get what you pay for. If you want dramatic colors, you can achieve that using a good portion of the bottle. If you want subtle colors, this may be what you're looking for.

It's healthy too, which for his arthritis, it's helpful not to have all that extra stuff. The greens are great too. But, it's the taste he goes for and believe me, it doesn't last very long. Wish they made it in a 5.5 ounce can! Highly recommend!

My Akita has to be switched from food to food constantly. He gets bored fat. The trick is to get high quality dry and canned food that doesn't make him sick. He's not sensitive perse...there have been only a few dog foods that affected him adversely. This food is not one of them. He wolfs it right down every time we feed it to him. I saw this steamer in an ad in Runner's World and just had to have it. Since going on the South Beach Diet, I've upped my intake of eggs, fish, chicken, and vegetables tremendously. And because I live an extremely active lifestyle, I never have time to wait for things to thaw before cooking. I was defrosting frozen meat and nuking scrambled eggs and frozen vegetables in the microwave everyday when I did some reading and found out that microwaving destroys over 90% of the healthy vitamins and nutrients in foods. Researchers have found that steaming is the best way to preserve nutrients if you have to cook a food.This steamer gets the job done better than I'd ever hoped. While it does take a little longer to cook with steam than in the microwave or on the stovetop (add 5-15 minutes of cook time), it is a more hassle-free way to prepare food. You don't have to constantly check your food to see if its burning or stir it. No more exploding eggs in the microwave or rice stuck to the bottom of the pan. Just load it up, set the timer, and leave it to cook. For example, I stuck a couple of frozen chicken breasts and a cup of brown rice in, set for 45 minutes, and left to do something else. Halfway through I poured in frozen vegetables and seasoned the chicken and rice. The chicken cooked through perfectly, the vegetables were tender, and the rice was perfect. Hard boiled eggs are easy too. Clean up afterwards was a breeze. The plastic containers are easy to wash off, but the drip pan fills up quickly and when full is hard to get to the sink to pour out without spilling. Cooking directions and times are approximate, so there is some trial and error involved. But since I love it so far, I will definitely be using it several times a week and get lots of practice. I highly recommend.

This product would have been one step up from the previous generation of Oster steamers if it weren't for one very major flaw.

Good Points:

-it's inexpensive

-the electronic timer works really well (this was the new upgrade from previous models)

-it's versatile especially for Asian cooking

-it works really fast

Bad Points:

- MOLD the steamer's water inlet, that also serves to help you measure how much water is in the steamer, is a great way to collect mold. Currently it is nearly impossible to dry this inlet completely without pushing a qtip or tissue through; and no, turning it upside down doesn't help since the inlet's curves are designed to keep water in. Cleaning this part is also near impossible for the same reason. This is just really stupid. Oster should spend more time testing their products. This should have been fixed before being released.

- As other reviewers have noted, this product made with #7 plastic. This material has a great chance of leeching biphenyl-A, synthetic estrogen, when it's heated. BPA is just not good for general health (it has links to causing obesity, cancer, heart problems, neurological problems and so on); for children the issues are even more complicated. Google can tell you all the details. This just isn't something you should put in contact with your food.

It is a great toy. Our Sheltie could catch a ball in the air when he was only 10 weeks old and is ball crazy. This ball was one of his favorites. However, dogs will gnarl and chew and if a Sheltie can chew it into tiny pieces I would hate to see what our Golden Retreiver could do. We bought it in different sizes so going up to the larger size did not stop it from being in pieces in a week's time. The construction just didn't stand up to the teeth.

This is a great toy that I have no doubts my cockatiel will love once he gets used to it. It's dried vine all wound into a ball. I got one from That Pet Place when I placed an order from them of perches and toys for my new aviary (King's Cages). The problem: the one I received from That Pet had maybe half of the length of vine in the ball as the one pictured here.

I haven't bought the version from Global Pets, but I sure hope that other balls have more to them. I paid 20% more for the That Pet one over the Global Pets and got half of what I was expecting.

Great toy, but be prepared for a ball that doesn't have nearly the amount of vine in it as you see pictured.
