Most brushes and combs do essentially the same thing. They remove dead hair from your pet before it has a chance to fall out.

Shedding is a natural process that allows for loss of older and often dead hair so that new hair can grow in. Some pets shed seasonally, blowing their winter coats during spring. Others, like indoor pets and short-haired pets, may shed all year. Making time to brush your pet can help you decide where a lot of that hair ends up.

Most brushes and combs do essentially the same thing. They remove dead hair from your pet before it has a chance to fall out. Wide-toothed combs are choice for cats. A widely-spaced comb will remove more hair gently than fine-toothed comb. Fine-toothed and blade-on-a-handle combs can both require more pressure to use than many cats are able to tolerate. A Slickers brush fine metal bristles are best used on long-haired, dense-coated dogs. Some groomers recommend using a small slicker brush for toes, legs, face, and tail, and a larger brush for the rest of the body. Slicker brushes are also helpful at removing tangles in the coat of cats or dogs. Bristle brushes are very versatile and make a good, basic brush for both cats and dogs of all coat types. Pin brushes are often used on medium- and long-haired dogs and are a good choice to help release tangles. Rubber brushes are good for short-haired dogs and help loosen hair and dirt, while also stimulating circulation. Depending on your pet's coat and its tendency to tangle, you may want more than one deshedding tool. Bird's must-have coat-taming trio includes a blade-on-a-handle comb, a slicker brush, and a coarse-to medium metal comb.

If Furminator is one of your most favorite products, just wait until you see their new deluxe product line. The first thing you'll notice is the new design. The ergonomic handle provides an easier grip that is more controllable and easier to hold while grooming the hairier pets. It both decreases the wear and tear on your arm while offering greater control. This makes a big difference when working with thick, heavy coats that require a lot of grooming. Fur-ejector aspect of the tool offers the ability to eject fur from the blade with a simple button. This allows you keep the blades clean during grooming. Reduce your cat’s shedding by 90 percent with the Furminator deShedding Tool.

Its uniquely designed blade does not cut, but grabs and removes loose hair and undercoat hair quickly and easily, leaving a shiny, healthy topcoat. By removing loose, dead hairs, the Furminator also eliminates shedding and the cleanliness and allergy problems that accompany it. Less hair on your cat means less hair on your furniture and floors. The Furminator’s tough stainless steel 1.75-inch blade is designed to grab hair and remove it without causing your pet pain or damaging its topcoat. Get fast, amazing results every time with both long- and short-haired shedding breeds. Reduces shedding better than any brush, rake, or comb, and brings out the cat’s natural oils, which promotes healthier skin. Helps eliminate hairballs too.

An animal hoarder is distinguished from a person who keeps an unusually large number of pets, but who cares for them properly. A hoarder is distinguished from an animal breeder, who would have a large number of animals as the central component of his or her business this distinction can be problematic, however, as some hoarders are former breeders who have ceased selling and caring for their animals, while others will claim to be breeders as a psychological defense mechanism, or in hopes of forestalling intervention. Compulsive hoarding can be characterized as a symptom of mental disorder rather than deliberate cruelty towards animals. Hoarders are deeply attached to their pets and find it extremely difficult to let the pets go. They typically cannot comprehend that they are harming their pets by failing to provide them with proper care. Hoarders tend to believe that they provide the right amount of care for their pets. Due to the harmful effects on the health of the animals involved, animal hoarding is considered a form of animal cruelty. Hoarders often fail to provide even basic care for their animals, and this result in disease and often death. The primary animal health issues involved are malnourishment, overcrowding, and problems related to neglect. Consequences of hoarding are long-lasting and continue to affect the animals even after they have been rescued and provided with better care.

Animal hoarding also causes many health problems for the individuals involved. Hoarders, by definition, fail to correct deteriorating sanitary conditions of their living spaces, and this gives rise to several health risks for those living in and around hoarding residences. Animal hoarding is at the root of a string of human health problems including horrendous sanitation, fire hazards, zoonotic diseases, and neglect of oneself and dependents.

Hoarders are frequently found to collect large numbers of inanimate objects in addition to animals, giving rise to extreme clutter as well. Hoarded objects can include newspapers, trash, clothing, and food and the clutter inhibits normal movement around the house, hampering household maintenance and sanitary food preparation; heightening risks of accidents and contributing to the overall level of squalor.

Animal hoarders display symptoms of delusional disorder in that they have a belief system out of touch with reality virtually all hoarders lack insight to the extent of deterioration in their habitations and on the health of their animals, refusing to acknowledge that anything is wrong. Further, hoarders may believe they have a special ability to communicate or empathize with animals, rejecting any offers of assistance. Delusional disorder is an effective model in that it offers an explanation of hoarder’s apparent blindness to the realities of their situations.

Dog chocolate poisoning is not as uncommon as you might think. Chocolate contains theobromine, a naturally occurring stimulant found in the cocoa bean. Theobromine increases urination and affects the central nervous system as well as heart muscle. While amounts vary by type of chocolate, it's the theobromine that is poisonous to dogs.

Mild signs of poisoning occur in animals ingesting 20 mg of theobromine and caffeine per kg of body weight, severe signs are seen at 40-50 mg/kg, and seizures occur at 60 The chemical compound that makes chocolate toxic to pets, is theobromine. Theobromine, found in products of the cocoa tree, is a xanthine compound belonging to the same family as caffeine and theophylline an ingredient found in tea. Pets metabolize this chemical very slowly, and it affects their heart, central nervous system, and kidneys.

Theobromine levels vary in different types of chocolate, because some chocolates have a higher cocoa content than others. Milk chocolate has approximately forty-four milligrams of thoebromine per ounce.

The best means of treatment includes induced vomiting, and the administration of activated charcoal. To induce vomiting, use three percent hydrogen peroxide, and administer one or two teaspoons by mouth every fifteen minutes until vomiting begins. Activated charcoal, which is usually given by the vet, is a powder of processed charcoal that binds to many types of poisons, keeping them from being absorbed into the bloodstream of the dog. There is usually a good outcome if the dog can be treated within three to five hours of ingestion, but the effects of the chocolate can last upwards of twelve hours, meaning that your pet may need to be hospitalized.

Shedding is a common complaint by pet owners. No matter what tools are available on the market, nothing will stop your dog or cat from shedding. However, there are some tools that can help minimize the amount of pet hair that is left around the house.

Although shedding is perfectly normal for cats and dogs, excessive shedding or shedding to the point of bald spots may point to a more serious problems.

A widely-spaced comb will remove more hair gently than a fine-toothed comb. Fine-toothed and blade-on-a-handle combs can both require more pressure to use than many cats are able to tolerate.

Furminator is one of your most favorite products.

The Furminator deShedding Tool quickly removes the loose, dead, undercoat hair that's the underlying source of a pet parents' major complaint - shedding and the allergies and cleanliness problems associated with it.

The Furminator can reduce shedding up to 60-80%, leaving a healthier, shinier coat that allows the skin to breathe better. A well-groomed coat dries faster, exudes fewer odors, has less chance of infection, helps reduce hairballs in cats, and makes it easier to see ticks and fleas. This tool does not cut or damage the pets’ coat, but removes incredible amounts of undercoat and loose hair leaving a healthy, shiny top coat.

Training dog at home, makes you and your dog closer. There will be a special bonding.

Dog training is a process of teaching a dog, communication. It means to make it perform certain basic actions, which is needed for the dog to understand. Dog training is all about shaping your dogs personality.

Today there are more than 300 different breeds of domestic dog and these are often classified into various types, according to the task for which they were originally bred. These tasks included herding, hunting and guarding. However, many breeds are now kept mainly or exclusively as pets.

When you plan for bringing a dog home, at that time itself you have to decide, whether you want to train him at home. Or you will need to consider which dog training schools or dog obedient schools are appropriate. But it will be the best option, to train him at home.

Though training a dog at home requires a lot of time and patience, but it will be very rewarding.

Dog is a pack animal. It loves to be with companions. Most of the people want to keep the dog in their yards. But you have to socialize with the dogs for more than an hour daily. As a part of training, brush him from head to toe, so that he gets used to it daily. It will make him feel happy. Play with him, play fetch, play some tricks, make it fun. Teach him some basics, like sit, come, stay, down,go.

Go for a walk, keep him fit. In between the training give him some treats, so that he enjoys, what is taught. Teaching a dog is a responsibility. He should be trained to interact with people, so that he won’t get confused, if he is among many people. Never let your dog lonely, he may have some stress, which might result in biting visitors, digging, howling.

Due to the nature of relationships between human and dogs, it is important to understand the delicate process that is a trust between both at all times. Dogs are like children, that is they have to be taught everything from the beginning like pottying. When the dog is in puppy stage, that is the beneficial time for training. Otherwise in later stages, it will be difficult for him to get trained.

While going for a walk, put him next to you, never allow him to pull you. Direct him by your legs, to follow. Dogs are natural eaters, but train him, so that they do not overeat or attack any one, if they are disturbed while eating.

Training dog at home, makes you and your dog closer. There will be a special bonding.

Never feed dog food to a cat. Cats require twice as much protein and B vitamins as do dogs. Cats, unlike dogs, cannot convert certain dietary precursors into necessary amino acids and water soluble vitamins. A cat given dog food over a long period can develop taurine deficiency, vitamin A deficiency, niacin deficiency, retinal degeneration, and other serious or fatal illnesses. Raw fish should not be fed to cats. Raw fish contains an enzyme that destroys vitamin B1, A deficiency of this vitamin results in brain damage. Fish is also deficient in vitamin E and has the potential to transmit diseases.

Specialty foods and even table scraps can be given as treats once or twice a week-but only after the regular diet is eaten. Cooked meats, cottage cheese, cooked vegetables, cooked fish, milk, and yogurt are foods with strong taste appeal that cats seem to enjoy. Only give them in small amounts and do not offer dairy products if your cat appears to be lactose intolerant. Never feed meats exclusively. Treats should never exceed 20 percent of a cat’s total daily food. Cats have highly selective eating habits. The location of the food dish, noise, the presence of other animals, and other threats or distractions can adversely affect how much they are willing to eat. A cat in a boarding facility may go an entire week without eating. Water is a very important nutrient for cats. Always have plenty of fresh water available. Canned food diets are more likely to provide an adequate amount of water than are other types of food.

According to expert Veterinarians and Dog Trainers tempting treats & exercise balls keep the dogs happy and healthy.

According to expert Veterinarians and Dog Trainers tempting treats & exercise balls keep the dogs happy and healthy. Pet Toys combats boredom and behavior problems. It encourages the dogs both mentally and physically by appealing to their natural instincts. toys for dogs must be safe for them and should be chosen according to their size, activity level, preferences and the environment around the dog. Their enthusiasm can be a key to how much they liked a particular toy. Be alert enough to keep your dog away from anything that might be ingested and keep things like string, ribbon, rubber bands, children's toys and pantyhose away from their reach and out of their sight.

A dog bone is either a real or toy bone that makes a good dog toy. Some dogs like to bury dog bones in the yard, so they can dig it up and chew on it later. Others want to chew it and carry it around. Dog bones also help getting plaque off of the dog's teeth.

Often, when you throw a stick, and a dog is watching, he will retrieve the stick for you. Repeating the process for several minutes can entertain both dog and dog owner. These stick toys are available in different shapes colours and sizes that attract the dogs.

Balls of all shapes and sizes are great in keeping your dog active and fit. Great way to play and exercise your dog at the same time.

Care has to be taken while buying the toy for your dog. The size of the toy is determined by the size of the dog. Small toys given to big dogs are dangerous as they may swallow it. And the toys should be non-toxic.

There are many toys out there for you and your dog to share. The important thing is to check and see what they’re made of. Test them in the store, see how flexible they are. Don’t bring anything home that contains parts that can be chewed off, or parts that will break over time. A one-piece toy is what you want – one that’s not going to break, or be easily swallowed. And never leave your pooch unattended with any toys he *can* swallow or chew apart, even if you think he won’t.

Some of the well known toys for dogs:

•	Bobbins--a round, hollow, spool-shaped, heavy polyethylene play/exercise toy for larger breeds of dogs.
•	Boomer Ball--intended for soccer-style play, to encourage healthful exercise as an alternative to destructive chewing, pacing, and other undesirable behaviors plus animal enrichment.
•	Extreme Kong: This is marketed as the strongest rubber dog toy in the world. Strong is always good when it comes to an aggressive chewer.

Some toys can serve multiple functions for dogs to interact with, combining common play behaviors into a single toy. Companies such as Dog Nasty produce toys that can adapt to other toys and objects, and be combined by the dog owner to create new toys for dogs to play with. Whereas a hard ball is not well-suited for chewing, and a plush toy is difficult to throw, wrapping the ball in a plush exterior creates a toy that can be thrown and chewed on.

There are many different ways to feed your dog a healthy diet. Sure, pet food companies have created special formulas for overweight, older, or active dogs; but even these blends do not meet the necessary requirements for your pet's health.

Companies have recognized this trend and have begun marketing low-fat, low-calorie, or low-carb versions of our favorite foods. But with all of this attention to our own health, we may be forgetting the nutrition of our loyal companion pets.

There are many different ways to feed your dog a healthy diet. Sure, pet food companies have created special formulas for overweight, older, or active dogs; but even these blends do not meet the necessary requirements for your pet's health. Common ingredients in these commercial brands include, cornmeal, yellow corn, brewer’s rice and whole grain corn which are high in carbohydrates. The average of most commercial dry pet foods is between 30-70% carbohydrates.

Both dogs and cats are able to convert protein into energy as well as into muscle. Neither species in the wild would have a diet similar to this; both would consume far less than the 30% low-end estimate. Dogs who are overweight are at higher risk for an array of unpleasant conditions, including type II diabetes, heart disease, and metabolic disorders. Excess sugar/carb consumption has been shown to cause obesity as well as many other chronic diseases. The carbs/sugar drive both obesity and disease in canines. In fact, studies have shown that your dog's food may cause illnesses such as skin allergies, stomach problems, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer also.

Experts insist that domestic dog obesity stems from the fact that today’s dogs get less exercise than their ancestors did. Fat dogs eat too much and don’t get enough fiber in their diets . Carbohydrates cannot be good for dogs -- at least not in the quantity eaten today. Diabetes in dogs is best treated by feeding a nutritionally sound diet.

You can also add fresh foods to a commercial diet to improve the overall quality of the diet you feed your dog .Good regulation using this method can be achieved either through use of strictly basal insulin or basal/bolus method. This is highly dependent on the individual animal's metabolism. Owners who want the best for their dogs will take the time and effort to understand carbohydrate metabolism, insulin action, and home glucose testing. It is in this way they can best understand how food and insulin affect their pet.

Some experts claim that the best food for your pet is the food you make yourself. Advocates of a raw food diet recommend feeding your pet fresh meals instead of prepared foods. It is important not to cook the food, but serve it as your pet would find it in the wild. The vegetables should be chopped into very tiny pieces - like he would find it in the gut of his prey - so that your dog's body will be able to process the nutrients. Either way the dog food is best kept as low carbohydrate for the good health of canine.

Cat scratch disease (CSD) is an infrequent self-limiting infectious disease classically characterized by painful regional lymphadenopathy. It also known as "Cat scratch fever," ”Inoculation lymphoreticulosis” and "Subacute regional lymphadenitis" is a usually benign infectious disease caused by the intracellular bacterium Bartonella. The bacteria live in infected cats' saliva but don't make the animals sick; in fact, kittens or cats may carry the bacteria for months. Cat scratch disease, a bacterial infection that causes swelling of the lymph nodes, usually is due to the scratch, lick, or bite of a cat. Fleas spread the bacteria between cats, although there's no evidence that fleas can transmit the disease to humans. You can also get the bacteria in your eyes if you pet a cat that has the bacteria on its fur and then rub your eyes.

Cat-scratch disease is not a severe illness in people who are healthy. But it can be a problem in people who have weak immune systems. These include people who are receiving chemotherapy, those who have diabetes or those who have acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

An infection of the lymph nodes also called lymph glands develops, most often in the glands that are near the place where you got the cat scratch or cat bite. This blister or bump is called an inoculation lesion. These lesions are generally not painful and it is most commonly found on the arms and hands, head, or scalp. The lymph nodes may swell to an inch or more in size. The patient may also run a low-grade fever.

It usually takes 3 to 10 days for a blister or small bump to appear at the site of a scratch or bite. Lymph node swelling begins about 1 to 4 weeks later. In most people, cat-scratch disease clears up without treatment. The inoculation lesion where the bacteria entered the body usually takes days to heal. The swollen lymph nodes disappear within 2 to 4 months, although occasionally last much longer. Often, taking a pain reliever and applying heat compresses to the affected area can help relieve pain and discomfort. Antibiotics that kill bacteria may be needed when infected lymph nodes stay painful and swollen for more than 2 or 3 months. If your doctor has prescribed antibiotics, take them on schedule and for as many days as prescribed. If a lymph node is very large or painful, your doctor may drain it to help relieve the pain.

Teaching kids to avoid stray or unfamiliar cats can reduce their exposure to sources of the bacteria. To lower the risk of getting the disease from a family pet or familiar cat, kids should avoid rough play with any pets so they can avoid being scratched or bitten. If your child is scratched by a pet, wash the injured area thoroughly with soap and water. Consulting a doctor in case of high fever is very essential.
